I was really looking forward to the Bog Walk in Orr, Minnesota. I hoped to see several interesting plant species, and was looking forward to photographing them, as well as any bird and animal life. About 50 feet into it, all was going good, I'd found some interesting grasses in the sunlight with interesting reflections. I'd photographed some marsh marigolds. Then things got interesting. We were swarmed by mosquitoes. If you've never been swarmed by bog mosquitoes in Minnesota then you probably can't appreciate how truly unpleasant it is. Not only do they swarm you(must have been about 50, felt like much more) but they follow you. These followed me all the way back to my vehicle, and some even managed to get in the vehicle. Next time bring mosquito repellent!
